About Powerspeed

Where everyone knows your name

“We're a martial arts academy that feels like a home away from home.”

That is how Powerspeed describes itself, and it is what families notice first. Every new student is welcomed into the Powerspeed family by name, and parents write about the school the way you talk about a second home.

Core Focus

We inspire others to discover their hidden potential

Everything else in the school is built around that one sentence, and three values that carry it.

Lead

“We Lead from the Front”

Growth

“We are a Catalyst for Better”

Passion

“Our Passion Yields Tenacity & Enthusiasm”

Never miss a detail! No struggle, no progress! Building champions one kick at a time! Powered up. Locked in. Ready to strike. Motivation gets you going, but discipline keeps you growing.

Ron CaayaOwner and Head Instructor

Families call him Master Ron, Instructor Ron or Ronald. He teaches with a small team of instructors and assistant instructors, and the school's Core Focus is his: to inspire others to discover their hidden potential.

Instructor RJ and Master Ron are skilled at matching training with your level and pushing you where you want to go.

How students grow here

Smaller milestones, greater results

The school's programming rule says it plainly: “Smaller Milestones Yield Greater Long Term Results.”

  • Training is broken into developmental stages, so every student has a next step they can actually reach.
  • “We Offer an Inclusive Environment.” Kids of different abilities and needs train side by side.
  • Belt promotion tests make progress visible, with a certificate in hand.

Both of my children are autistic and struggle following direction and learning new things in general. But Ronald keeps them motivated.

Through the pandemic

Class kept going

During the pandemic, Powerspeed took class outdoors and online so families could keep training.

Especially during the pandemic, Powerspeed has made every effort to support their families/clients, offering outdoor classes for those who were willing to brave the conditions, and a suite of online classes.

Riverdale

Part of the neighborhood

You will find Powerspeed students performing a demo at the Riverdale Block Party, the school out on a group bike ride, and kids from several local schools in the after-school program.

Powerspeed Taekwondo is such a valuable part of the Riverdale community.
