Your first class

Trying something new takes courage

That is what the school wrote under a video of beginners drilling on the mat, and it is the right way to think about your first class. Nobody solves jiu-jitsu on day one.

  • No background needed. You don't need to know jiu-jitsu or judo first. Many beginners start with no martial arts at all.
  • Technique and safety first. Beginners learn positions and how to train safely before anything else.
  • Sparring comes later. It isn't required at the start, and it is introduced gradually over time.
  • 13 and up. Open to teens and adults, at every level.

Drilling on the mats

With taekwondo or on its own

Kicks on your feet. Control on the ground.

Using your body weight well means size and strength matter less. Some students come for jiu-jitsu alone. Others pair it with taekwondo or Muay Thai at the same school, so the stand-up and the ground game grow together.
